Let's suppose that you have a lot of important files stored on your USB memory device and all of a sudden, you lose them or they get stolen. In this case, the thief can get his hands on your personal information, including passwords, bank accounts and other related information. The same goes for having important data stored on your computer and a hacker accesses it without your will. In this case, your information will also be compromised. For helping avoid this, you could encrypt your files, so that no one except you will be able to view them. The problem is to find the right software for efficiently encrypting files.

A program which can do that is Longpass. This simple Windows program can easily encrypt any kind of file, no matter its format, with great ease. The application doesn't need installing and it's enough to run the downloaded executable. After doing this, the user will be presented with a DOS-like interface. Having such a simple interface will allow the program to run even on older computers.

After running the program, the user just needs to type the name of the original file and the one of the encrypted file. The original file can have any kind of extension and the same goes for the encrypted one. After completing this step, one should enter the name of two password files. These can be text or any other format. After completing all these tasks, the newly encrypted file will be generated in the same location as the original one.

Decrypting the file can be done in the same easy manner as encrypting it, by indicating the name of the two password files. Without these, the file cannot be decrypted.
